Hun Sen Encourages Cambodians to Emulate Chinese-Style Wealth

Hun Sen Encourages Cambodians to Emulate Chinese-Style Wealth ? cambodiadaily.com, December 30, 2012
??Let?s invest in small and big firms. Let?s make Cambodians become millionaires. Only in Cambodia are there no millionaires. In China there are many millionaires, so don?t think that a communist country has no millionaires,? the prime minister continued, adding that foreign investors should feel they have equal access to entering the market when competing with local enterprises.
Mr. Hun Sen said that promoting a wealthy class was the best way to help the poor.
?Make the bosses rich in Cambodia,? he said. ?Because when there are problems-for example when people need help with flooding?our local investors contribute a huge amount of money??

iPhone 5S Rumors 2013: Specs Include iOS7, NFC, IGZO Panels And More

Apple Inc.
Apple Inc. (Photo: Reuters)

The iPhone 5 was a landmark phone for 2012, and 2013 promises to be the year of the iPhone 5S. And since Apple doesn't officially confirm anything until everything is absolutely certain (they wouldn't confirm it's going to be Monday until Sunday night), Apple fans are left to scavenge for rumors of all sorts to tide them over until the gadget giant gives official word. (Like these rumored iPhone 5S pics here.) Now that 2013 is almost upon us, what do we know so far about the state of the iPhone 5S? Or rather, what do we THINK we know?

Like Us on Facebook

iOS7

iPhone 5S rumors include rampant speculation as to whether or not Apple is going to launch its newest operating system, iOS7. Fox Business is predicting iOS7 will be a part of the iPhone 5S launch. The iPhone 5s release date is rumored to be in June or July, according to Jeffries & Co. Apple analyst Peter Misek. Misek returned from a meeting with apple's Asian suppliers in mid-December and made the release date prediction based on his observations of hardware manufacturing. What can iPhone owners anticipate if the iOS7 rumors turn out to be true? Again, nothing official from Apple, but there are wish lists upon wish lists out there already. The common thread among them is better app management, including customized default apps for basics like emails and calendars and cosmetic changes like hiding apps you never use or creating better, bolder icons.

NFC Capability

NFC (Near Field Communication) is an intriguing mobile technology that is conspicuously absent from the Apple product line. iPhone 5S rumors consistently mention the inclusion of NFC capability in a new device. Think NFC is no a big deal? Then why does rival Samsung take the time to mention it in basically every single commercial? NFC provides that sci-fi gadget feel to a device, and Apple does NOT want to be out-cooled in the Cool Dept. Fortune, Fox Business and CNet are all anticipating NFC tech in the iPhone 5S, making this one of the more credible rumors out there. Samsung has it, Apple doesn't. It doesn't take an industry insider to understand why Apple wants to change that.

IGZO Panels

iPhone 5S rumors are like previous iPhone rumors, they thrive on specs. Specs, specs, specs are what Apple fans and potential consumers want to know about, and the firmest specs rumor for the iPhone 5s comes in the form of IGZO panels. What are IGZO panels?

Short for their chemical composition (indium gallium zinc oxide), IGZO panels are the latest form of LCD technology being developed by Sharp. Prototypes at the IFA consumer electronics trade show in Berlin this year were capable of 498 pixels per inch, easily surpassing the 326 ppi resolution on the iPhone 5. Less a phantom than other rumors, DigiTimes reported on Apple's interest in testing the availability for the new tech for use in its 2013 product line. Although it appears Apple is interested in including IGZO panels in its 2013 product line, the question now is whether or not enough can be manufactured to meet the insane amount of demand Apple is known for creating.

... And More!

In addition to the iOS7, NFC and IGZO rumors, iPhone 5s rumors also include some speculation on other improvements to the product line. The HD camera will likely see an upgrade, taking it into 'super-HD' territory. Some insiders are expecting Apple to unveil a brand new type of OS that works universally between the iMac and mobile platforms, based on research the company has been conducting since 2011, according to CNet. The iPhone 5s may also launch alongside the iWatch, a device designed to integrate controls for your phone, tablet and desktop in a small wristwatch-sized device. Longer battery life may also be in store, in part because of the functionality of IGZO panels.

Overall, the iPhone 5S rumors are making the same promises we always expect from Apple. Better resolution, more power, smarter software and sharper cameras are always a part of the iPhone rumor mix. Why? Probably because Apple consistently delivers all of the above with each new upgrade to the iPhone product line. We'll all be holding our breath until summer 2013, when the iPhone 5s (or is it the iPhone 6?) will (probably) be debuted.

B2B Marketing Trends For 2013 That You Never Saw Coming ...

business to business marketing trends for 2013Here at GetUWired we would like to wish a Happy New Year to all of our loyal blog followers. As 2012 comes to an end, we open a new chapter in our life and in our business. We look back at where we?ve been and ahead at what?s to come.

In recent weeks we?ve tried to provide our readers with projected marketing trends in the new year. The guys over at MarketingProfs have done this as well. They focused this article solely on business to business marketing and centered it around technology. I learned a lot that will help me prepare for the coming months and i?m sure you will too. Enjoy!

?The past cannot be changed, but the future is yet in your power??or so goes an old saying. As a history major, though, I can tell you that it?s much easier to rewrite history than it is to leave an impact on or to predict the future.
Still, in the spirit of prediction season, I offer here 10 trends of 2012 that I think will grow even more prominent in 2013.
1. Digital marketing will continue to grow
It?s pretty obvious to just about everyone that digital marketing is becoming the main channel for demand generation. But despite the adoption levels of digital marketing, there?s still a lot more upside. In 2013, digital marketing will continue to see huge adoption rates as businesses of all sizes implement all manner of digital marketing tactics.
2. Digital marketing services will surge
Subsequent to digital marketing?s mass adoption, digital marketing services will spike. Consultants, agencies, and new services will surge to support new users and meet their demand for assistance.
3, Content creation services and software will proliferate
Content marketing is becoming the core of just about every marketing initiative for B2B marketing as well as B2C. In 2013, we will see a host of software and services solutions for content creation and syndication emerge as companies try to use content for more demand- and lead-generation results.
4. Integrated marketing will gain popularity
After new channels stabilize as standalone, consistent lead-gen options (social media, content marketing) and new channels and tactics emerge with enormous promise (mobile, retargeting), 2013 will become the year of integrated marketing campaigns. Marketers will try to combine tactics to make use of the compounded effect of multiple channels? working in unison. The market will react as more solutions will come to offer the ability to manage and measure integrated campaigns in one place, marking a decline in the adoption of one-dimensional solutions.
5. Direct mail will make a return
While digital marketing rises, sophisticated marketers will recognize the potential of direct mail coupled with an online connection to break through the noise. Solutions and services that offer integrated?offline and online?approaches will emerge and gain traction as a result of being affordable and highly measurable.
6. Big Data applications will emerge
Big Data has been the hot topic in the media for the last 18 months, and big companies such as HP, IBM, Microsoft, and other software conglomerates have been developing solutions to tackle Big Data. In 2013, we will see solutions emerge and adopted that offer big data applications for day-to-day marketing campaigns.
7. The immeasurable will become measurable
In 2012, we noticed a lot of talk about measurement and the ability to justify marketing efforts. As ROI becomes essential to the broad adoption of any marketing tactic, in 2013 solutions and services will find ways to measure previously immeasurable tactics and evaluate their contribution to the bottom line.
8. PPC will decline as budgets move to other paid solutions
In 2012 we?ve seen the first signs of decline in PPC usage for B2B companies. In the next year, more budgets will move away from PPC to new and more affordable channels and tactics.
9. Marketing spend on software will increase
As more software and infrastructure for marketing is required, Marketing?s budget will match IT?s.
10. Sales responsibilities will move to Marketing
The expansion of lead generation responsibilities in B2B marketing is resulting in the moving of more sales-related tasks to Marketing. In 2013 we will see marketing teams take over more sales tasks, such as lead qualification, inside sales team management, and sales operations.

Obama's Firm Fiscal Cliff Stance Had Pushed GOP In Corner, Jon Kyl Says

WASHINGTON -- Sen. Jon Kyl (R-Ariz.) said on Sunday that the only reason some Republicans had been willing to raise tax rates on income above $250,000 was that President Barack Obama had been firm in his position. Now that Obama and other Democrats are showing more flexibility, offering to set the threshold for tax increases at at least $400,000, the political calculus has changed, Kyl told ABC's "This Week."

On "Fox News Sunday," Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) said that he wouldn't support a $250,000 level because Democrats will agree to a higher threshold.

Kyl was read a comment by Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas), a top Republican who said recently that he expected $250,000 to be the agreed-upon level. "I believe we're going to pass the $250,000 and below sooner or later, and we really don't have much leverage there because those rates go up by operation of law Dec. 31. I would focus on the areas where we do have more leverage," Cornyn said.

But Kyl said that's no longer the case. "I don't think you have so many Republicans -- and the context of it was what is realistic as a deal. And the context of it was the president's adamant position that he wouldn't compromise on anything above $250,000. Let's just get back to the theory," Kyl suggested, ticking off arguments about the harm done to small businesses by a tax hike.

Graham said he won't support a "fiscal cliff" package that raises rates on income between $250,000 and $400,000 or $500,000, because he knows Democrats will cave on a higher threshold. He used the example of his fellow Fox guest, Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.).

"No," he said when asked if he'd support the $250,000 level, "because she's willing to go for more, and why would I not find 4 or 500, because I know the votes are there for 4 or 500? But in the House, will the votes be there for 4 or 500?"

Feinstein flinched and, when pressed, put the onus back on the president, who was the first to raise the compromise level to income over $400,000. "We believe that the 250 threshold is the appropriate threshold. The president did make an offer, we understand, of 400,000, with a trillion in cuts accompanying it. That was turned down by the House," she said. "The time has come really to measure the absence of a deal against a deal. ... We have to solve this immediate situation."

Asked whether she'd accept the higher level, Feinstein was quick to answer. "I could certainly live with it," she said.

Sen. Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.), speaking on "This Week," said he thought a deal would come together after Jan. 3, when Rep. John Boehner (R-Ohio) is safely reelected speaker. "I am hopeful in the new year, after Speaker Boehner is elected -- reelected -- and he doesn't have to worry about those 50 [members of the Tea Party faction], that he will start working in a way like the Senate works, which is Democrats and Republicans together," said Schumer.

Last week, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) said on the Senate floor that Boehner appeared more worried about holding his speakership than reaching a deal.

(AP) ? A passenger airliner careered off the runway at Russia's third-busiest airport and partly onto a highway while landing on Saturday, broke into pieces and caught fire, killing at least four people.

Officials said there were eight people aboard the Tu-204 belonging to Russian airline Red Wings that was flying back from the Czech Republic without passengers to its home at Vnukovo Airport.

Emergency officials said in a televised news conference that four people were killed and another four severely injured when the plane rolled off the runway into a snowy field and partly onto an adjacent highway, then disintegrated. No collisions with vehicles on the major, multilane highway were reported.

The plane's cockpit area was sheared off from the fuselage and a large chunk gashed out near the tail.

The crash occurred amid light snow and winds gusting up to 15 meters a second (30 mph), but other details were not immediately known. A spokesman for Russia's top investigative agency, Vladimir Markin, said initial indications were that pilot error was the cause.

The state news agency RIA Novosti cited an unidentified official at the Russian Aviation Agency as saying another Red Wings Tu-204 had gone off the runway at the international airport in Novosibirsk in Siberia on Dec. 20. The agency said that incident, in which no one was injured, was due to the failure of the plane's engines to go into reverse upon landing and that its brake system malfunctioned.

On Friday, the Aviation Agency sent a directive to the Tupolev company's president calling for it to take urgent preventive measures.

Vnukovo airport spokeswoman Yelena Krylova said it had enough personnel and equipment to keep the runway fully functional Saturday. The airport resumed receiving planes after a break of several hours.

Prior to Saturday's crash, there had been no fatal accidents reported for Tu-204s, which entered commercial service in 1995. The plane is a twin-engine midrange jet with a capacity of about 210 passengers.

Vnukovo, on the southern outskirts of Moscow, is one of the Russian capital's three international airports.

Woodrow Wilson: 'All big men are dreamers' ? Business ...

With his famous optimism, risk-taking and hatred of compromise, President Woodrow Wilson went for maximum outcomes. He failed big and won big. Welcome, Woodrow Wilson.

EL: Mr. President, in your view, what is the mark of a leader?

Wilson: The willingness to dream. We grow great by dreams. All big men are dreamers. They see things in the soft haze of a spring day or in the red fire of a winter?s night. Some of us let these dreams die, but others nourish and protect them; nurse them through bad days till they come true.

EL: How do you achieve your dreams?

Wilson: I not only use all the brains I have, but all I can borrow.

EL: In your early years, as president of Princeton University, you undertook reforms that strengthened the faculty and improved academic standards, but as time went on, you lost a series of battles, including one that came to be known as ?The Battle of Princeton.? Why didn?t you consult with anyone before you acted?

Wilson: Because I was right. Those battles strengthened me immensely. I proceeded to become governor of New Jersey and president of the United States.

EL: You harshly attacked those who disagreed with you. For example, one professor named Mark Baldwin.

Wilson: Well, and he lived to regret having suggested that I was wrong. If you want to make enemies, try to change something.

EL: What would you say to young leaders who look for the highest-paying career?

Wilson: You are not here merely to make a living. You are here to enable the world to live more amply, with greater vision, with a finer spirit of hope and achievement. You are here to enrich the world, and you im??pov?erish yourself if you forget the errand.

EL: After the war ended in 1918, you decided to attend the Paris Peace Con??ference, making you the first sitting president to set foot in Europe. The European public adored your idealism, and 2 million fans mobbed you, so you used your popularity to create a League of Nations in the hope of stopping wars. Why don?t Ameri?cans better appreciate what you accomplished?

Wilson: We are citizens of the world. The tragedy of our times is that we do not know it.

EL: Any regrets?

Wilson: Yes. The Federal Reserve Act, which I signed, allowed our system of credit to become too concentrated. The growth of the nation and all our activities are in the hands of a few men who, even if their action be honest and intended for the public interest, are necessarily concentrated upon the great undertakings in which their own money is involved. We have restricted credit, we have restricted opportunity, we have controlled development, and we have come to be one of the worst ruled, controlled and dominated governments in the civilized world?a ?government run by the opinion of small groups of dominant men.

EL: What sustains you, then?

Wilson: I believe in Divine Providence. If I did not, I would go crazy.

2 dead after airliner goes off Moscow runway, catches fire

MOSCOW - Russia's Interior Ministry says two people have been killed in the crash of a passenger airliner at Moscow's Vnukovo airport.

The plane, a Tupolev-204 twin-engine jet, went off the runway at Russia's third-busiest airport on Saturday afternoon; it broke apart and caught fire.

News reports said about a dozen people were aboard and that several of them were seriously injured. Ministry spokesman Gennady Bogachev said on state news channel Vesti that two people died.

The plane belonged to the Russian airline Red Wings.

Ms. Mac: 'Cute, Awkwardly Dressed'

She has freckles, a normal-sized head, wears t-shirts and jeans. She is also "awkwardly dressed" and "pretty cute." She is the average female Mac user, according to an infographic complied and released by software start-up BlueStacks.

The company, which makes software that allows Android apps to run on computers, just released a new version of its Mac app. Install the program and you can access Android apps right from Apple's OS X operating system - Angry Birds, Instagram, all your favorites.

But the company didn't want to just release the software. In honor of the announcement, it created an infographic based on data from its Facebook users about what Ms. Mac looks like.

According to the graphic, which you can view below, 27 percent of female Mac users have long hair, 48 percent wear glasses and 52 percent are under 20. Forty percent use Mac OS X Lion, 14 percent OS X Mountain Lion, 20 percent OS X Leopard, and 8 percent Snow Leopard.

However, you should take these findings with a grain of salt; they are based primarily on responses from BlueStacks' 1.1 million Facebook fans. Some of it is based on data from Nielsen, but BlueStacks confirmed that the majority of the information was pulled from its own users and its social media fans.

"We have a lot of early adopter fans who were into helping," BlueStacks VP of marketing, John Gargiulo, told ABC News. "We also hired a data scientist who has been parsing through the data and talking with people who use BlueStacks. We like to do things that are a bit fun and different."

BlueStacks created a similar infographic about Android users last year. Not surprisingly, 70 percent of male Android users wear t-shits and 62 percent wear jeans. (It's like that line from that '90s movie "Can't Hardly Wait": "He is sort of tall, with hair and wears t-shirts sometimes.")

First Gulf War's 'Stormin' Norman' Schwarzkopf dies

By M. Alex Johnson, NBC News

Retired Gen. Norman Schwarzkopf, the blunt, bulldog-like commander of U.S.-led coalition forces in the first Persian Gulf War, died Thursday in Florida. He was 78.

Schwarzkopf died after a long illness at his home in Tampa, where he lived in retirement, a senior defense official told NBC News.

Schwarzkopf, a highly decorated Vietnam War veteran who rose quickly through the Army's ranks during the 1970s and '80s, drew up the initial plans for the successful U.S.-led ejection of Saddam Hussein's forces from Kuwait, which Iraq invaded in 1990.

He then became famous for his pointed and inventive language during the almost-daily televised briefings he gave reporters as commander of Operation Desert Storm in 1991, invariably clad in desert camouflage, which he is credited with introducing.

Schwarzkopf described the key maneuver that led to the end of the ground war, a redeployment of forces into Iraq behind Iraqi lines, with a boxing metaphor: He called it a "left hook." And he memorably dismissed one report he disagreed with as "bovine scatology."

In his 1992 autobiography, "It Doesn't Take a Hero," Schwarzkopf related that he meant to send a message in those briefings.

"With those cameras grinding away, I knew I wasn't talking just to friendly audiences, but that Saddam and his bully boys were watching me on CNN in their headquarters," he wrote.

Schwarzkopf said he agreed with President George H.W. Bush's decision not to pursue Hussein all the way to Baghdad. At the February 1991 briefing during which he described the coalition's victorious operations, he made it clear that he could have done so, however, had he been given the order:

"If it had been our intention to take Iraq, if it had been our intention to destroy the country, if it had been our intention to overrun the country, we could have done it unopposed for all intents and purposes from this position at that time."

Feb. 27, 1991: Gen. Norman Schwarzkopf tells reporters he could have gone all the way to Baghdad had he been given the order.

Schwarzkopf emerged from the war with the nickname "Stormin' Norman" and a career in television, much of it as a military analyst for NBC News.

The decision to go to war to oust Hussein was the defining moment of Bush's presidency. In a statement from Houston, where he is being treated at Methodist Hospital for complications related to bronchitis, Bush called Schwarzkopf "one of the great military leaders of his generation."

"More than that, he was a good and decent man," Bush said.

In January 2003, Schwarzkopf said on NBC's TODAY that he thought Bush's son, the 43rd president, had made a "very compelling" case for removing Hussein from power.

But by December 2004, he was criticizing Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld for his handling of the second war, telling MSNBC that war policy was being controlled by civilians in the Defense Department who "showed a total lack of understanding of the culture that we were dealing with" in Iraq.

As a result, he said, "things have gone awry," especially in terms of adequate armored protection for troops on the ground.

Dec. 13, 2004: Norman Schwarzkopf tells MSNBC's Chris Matthews that civilians in the Defense Department were mishandling the war in Iraq.

Obama, Powell hail general
In a statement Thursday night, President Barack Obama called Schwarzkopf "an American original."?

"From his decorated service in Vietnam to the historic liberation of Kuwait and his leadership of United States Central Command, General Schwarzkopf stood tall for the country and Army he loved."

Colin Powell, who was Schwarzkopf's boss as chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff during Desert Storm, remembered him Thursday as "a great patriot and a great soldier."

"He was a good friend of mine, a close buddy," Powell said in a statement. "I will miss him."

Schwarzkopf, who had been based in Tampa for many years on the way to leading U.S. Central Command in 1988, was a prominent spokesman for campaigns to promote awareness of prostate cancer, with which he was diagnosed in 1993. He is survived by his wife, Brenda, and their three adult children.

Andrea Mitchell and Courtney Kube of NBC News contributed to this report.
